Our News

It's always a great opportunity to learn more about the area, I catch up with them and on the going-ons in town, and they teach me Spanish vocabulary about plants and animals that we come across.

What did I read this week?:

Reading is one of my main hobbies here. This week, I read Accountable by Dashka Slater, Alchemised by SenLinYu, Jesus’ Son by Denis Johnson, and Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney. I’m also reading Colombia: una historia mínima by Jorge Orlando Melo to work on my Spanish!

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I watched more sports than I played! Soccer is probably the biggest sport in Colombia, so I watch some games whenever I’m out. I also keep up with college basketball and hockey. On my own, I mainly go on hikes and runs.

Other news from this week:

We have been on “summer” break here since Thanksgiving. We have our longer school break during Christmas time, and our mid-school year break in June. This was one of my last weeks off before school starts again. Next week, teachers return to school to begin planning for the year, and a couple of weeks after that, students return and the school year begins.
