What main languages are spoken here?:

Australia, though it is largely English-speaking, has a wide range of other languages spoken throughout the country. Some of the most popular languages spoken include Mandarin, Arabic, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Tagalog. This diversity is a result of the large number of immigrants from Asia. While going through my everyday life I have also heard people speaking French and German.

What type of money is used here?:

In Australia, the country uses the Australian Dollar (AUD). One U.S. dollar is worth 1.53 Australian dollars. This makes most of the things I buy during my day-to-day life less expensive in Sydney than they would be back home in Texas. Australian cash is very different from U.S. dollars as they are colorful and plastic, while the U.S. dollar is green and made of thin paper. The money being plastic is extremely helpful for me as someone that often forgets to empty my pockets before putting my clothes in the washer!

How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A water bottle from the popular grocery store, Woolworths, costs 80 cents AUD, which is about 52 cents in U.S. dollars. This is so nice as bottles of water back home cost around two to three dollars.
