Our News

What was the best meal this week?:

While it is not something I would consider a full meal, my friend and I went to a small cafe called Tokyo Lamington to try a Lamington, a popular Australian cake made of sponge cake, chocolate, raspberry jam and coconut. My friend and I tried both the traditional Lamington and a Tres Leches spin on a Lamington, both of which were very good and very sweet!

What music did I listen to this week?:

My music taste has not changed much at all since coming to Sydney as many American musicians have massive followings and popularity in Australia. While at the beach, I was shocked to hear someone playing Beyonce’s "Texas Hold’em" in Sydney.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

One of my friends and I went to Coogee Beach on Friday. This was the first time I have had a decent amount of time to spend at the beach that wasn’t just taking a beach walk. I also bought myself a physical magazine, which is something I had not done in a while. I spent most of the time reading from an edition of Australia’s Cosmopolitan, which was a great way to know what was going on in Australian popular culture.

What did I read this week?:

Most of my reading from the past week have been related to my classes at USYD (University of Sydney), one of the most interesting being for my "Youth and Youth Culture" class talking about fan culture as a part of youth culture. I also have been reading a nonfiction book called Ghost in the School Yard, which is about school closures, for a research project for next year when I get back to Wellesley.
