But, it only costs 10 more pesos to fill up a 5 L water jug at the local water refill station. So, once I week I carry my water jug to have it filled up with clean drinking water.
The best meal I had this week was sinigang baboy. This is a type of sour soup common in the Philippines that contains pork, tomatoes, onions, and sweet potato leaves. My host nanay, mother, made the soup from scratch, and it was a special Saturday treat!
K-pop Demon Hunters! Even in the Philippines, K-pop Demon Hunters is a huge hit, and I hear a variety of versions of the songs from the movie, including the original soundtrack, videoke renditions, and techno remixes. It's a good thing I love the movie so much!
On Sunday, I traveled to see my friends who also are volunteers working in the Philippines. We all met in the nearest city two hours away. It was fun to eat food, drink coffee, and talk with them. We also brought canvases and painted while sitting at the cafe.
This week, I am reading a book called Katabasis, which is about two magicians traveling to the underworld to save their professor. I love to read when I'm relaxing after work, and so far, I've read 75 books since living in the Philippines.
