This week, I traveled 175.2 km. My daily travel is so short, but on Saturday, I traveled 10.8 km to explore a mangrove park, and on Sunday, I traveled 164.4 km to meet my friends in the nearest city on our island.
To get to the Philippines from my home in Maryland, I have traveled about 10,150 miles. The travel time is usually over 24 hours, which is a whole day! I had to fly into the capital city of Manila, and then I had to take another flight to the island I live on, the island of Panay.
Most of the time, I am able to walk around to everything I need in my community. To get to my work, I only have to walk two minutes (sometimes less if I'm fast)! The market where I buy my ingredients to cook, and the closest beach is an even shorter walk away. If I do want to visit a friend who lives further away, I'll ride my bicycle or take a tricycle, which is a motorcycle with a metal carriage attached that can fit at least six people at a time. To travel to the nearest city, I take an air-conditioned bus for two hours.
