How much does a bottle of water cost?:

A bottle of water usually costs less than €2 at the store, but a lot of Berlin stores participate in a program where you can refill your reusable water bottle there for free! Most Berliners also prefer sparkling water, or carbonated water, which is something I haven't yet learned to enjoy.

What was the best meal this week?:

One of my favorite things about my new friends here is that we enjoy cooking dinner together almost every night, but sometimes we eat out to try the foods of Berlin. My neighborhood here is very multicultural, so there are a lot of ethnic foods to choose from. We tried a new Thai restaurant last night and got a big plate of food for only €6.50 and it was sehr lecker (very delicious)! Other types of ethnic foods in my neighborhood include döner kebab (Turkish), falafel (Middle Eastern), and gyro (Greek).

One of the most typical Berlin foods is currywurst, a streetfood dish invented in the 1949, made of bratwurst  (sausage) and a special sauce mix of ketchup and curry powder. There's a famous curry stand right by where I live, which means I eat it way more than I should.

What music did I listen to this week?:

The music is one of the best parts of Berlin. Every Monday, we head to a local café for awesome live jazz music. Techno music is also really popular in Berlin, but all kinds of musical groups tour through the city. I even saw La Bomba de Tiempo a few weeks ago, a large and fun percussionist group all the way from Colombia! My favorite song right now is "Weekend" by Flume, which I listen to on repeat.
