Getting Around Germany!

Introduction:

In Germany, getting around is part of the adventure! People use fast trains, trams, buses and bikes every day. I use them myself while exploring the country. It is a fun way to see new places and learn how people live and travel in Germany.

How do people get around?:

In Germany, people get around in lots of different ways. Many ride trains, buses or trams to get to school, work or even to visit friends in other cities. Bikes are also very popular, and there are special bike lanes almost everywhere. Some people drive cars too, but public transportation and biking are used much more often. When people need to travel long distances across Germany, they often take high-speed trains called ICE trains that can go almost 200 miles per hour!

To use public transportation, here, you need to buy a ticket. You can get tickets at machines in the station, at small shops or on special apps that also show train and tram schedules. There are different types of tickets, depending on how far you're going or how long you’ll be using the system. Some people even have monthly passes they use every day.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

I felt excited and a little curious the first time I used public transportation in Germany because of my experience with public transportation in the U.S.
