It's the Circle of Life! Nature in Kenya

Introduction:

I have seen many plants and animals in Kenya! I saw goats, cows, flowers and more. One of my favorite animals I saw was the giraffe!

What does this creature or plant look like?:

Giraffes are very tall animals. They have necks that are almost 20 feet tall! Their long necks help them reach high trees. Their bodies have yellow and brown spots. They also have very long tongues.

How did I feel when I saw it?:

I got to feed a giraffe in Kenya. At first I was nervous! But the giraffe was very gentle and friendly. It ate food from my hand with its long tongue. It felt warm and a little slimy!

Where does it live?:

Giraffes live in Africa. They live in big open grassy places called savannas. They like lots of space to walk and eat trees. Giraffes stay together as a family!

How does it use its environment to survive?:

Giraffes use their long necks to eat leaves from tall trees. Their favorite food comes from trees like acacia (uh - kay - shuh) trees. They can see very far away to stay safe. They also only sleep 30 minutes a day!

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

I visited the Nairobi Giraffe Centre. People can feed giraffes and learn about them there. This place helps protect giraffes so they stay safe and happy.
