Traveler Bio

Hello everyone! My name is Nicole Keating, but you can call me Nikki! I'm 21 years old and I grew up in Washington, D.C. I love reading, especially fantasy books, and going on long walks with my sister in Rock Creek Park (it’s a really big and beautiful park in D.C.!). I just graduated from Oberlin College in the United States, where I studied Africana Studies and Psychology. While I was in college, I served as the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper and also sang in a band. I really enjoyed learning about people, cultures, and history, and I even did a big research project about education in Kenya. Because of that project, I applied for something called a Fulbright Grant—and I was lucky enough to get it! This means I get to come to Kenya as an English Teaching Assistant. I’ll be helping out in English classes and also learning from all of you. I’ll also be a kind of ambassador, sharing about life in the U.S. while learning about life here. I’m so excited to meet you, learn together, and share this adventure with you!

Want to learn how you could be a Fulbrighter like me? The Fulbright Program is the United States government's flagship international exchange program. Fulbrighters foster mutual understanding between the United States and partner nations, share knowledge across communities, and improve lives around the world. Learn more by clicking here!
