I never thought in a million years that I would have the opportunity to live in Australia. But through hard work and perseverance, I have been able to achieve the almost impossible. To have experienced the things that I have and begin to understand the essence of what makes Australia so unique has been the most incredible journey of my life. Traveling to a country that is nearly 10,000 miles away from my home has not been easy. However, the people that I have met have made this journey so much more memorable and manageable. I will remember Australia fondly because of them; the shared late night toasties (grilled cheese sandwiches), the long hours spent on transit to get around Sydney, and the time spent studying and exploring together.

This experience, as clichéd as it sounds, has changed my life in a way that I could not have predicted. For example, studying the effects of climate change and rapid human development has opened my eyes to the importance of helping communities that are facing difficult challenges. Also, I have never felt as free and daring as I have been in Australia, which has helped me to grow in so many unexpected ways. Being a Benjamin A.
