Life in a Metropolis

I often see people wearing masks when they are outdoors, especially while riding bikes and mopeds. One reason for this polluted and dusty air is the constant construction throughout the city. Due to lax safety standards at construction sites, there is a risk for pedestrians from falling objects or breaks in structures.  Another danger pedestrians face is dealing with the city’s heavy traffic. Whether it is reckless drivers or careless pedestrians, it is essential to always be cautious while walking on busy roads

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

People have had to adapt to modern changes in China in many ways. As a result of little regulation and more manufacturing, there is more pollution in the city. This, in turn, make people and other living things more likely to be sick. One example of a change in people’s daily lives is how most people have to either consume filtered water from bottles or boil their tap water to protect themselves from contamination. While the Chinese are making some changes and investing heavily in green technology, they have a long way to go to tackle their pollution-related problems.
