Traveler Bio

Ni Hao! (Hello!) I'm Nelleke, but you can just think of me as Nell! Everyone should go abroad once, and until it's your turn, you can come with me as I go abroad for the first time to study business and Mandarin in Shanghai, China!

I grew up in a small town in east Michigan with five sisters and we had a lot of fun as kids before I started college in west Michigan! It is rare to have five siblings, especially all girls, but it is one of the reasons I am so strong-willed and driven. I know how amazing us ladies can be and I always encourage my sisters to follow their dreams. Some of my favorite things we used to do were; build forts out in the woods, make dances or plays to perform for our parents, and watch movies and read books that could teach us about things we couldn’t learn firsthand. I tried to show my sisters that there are opportunities in every situation to learn and even more important have fun, but I have always wanted to go further. I'm excited to see a history that pre-dates the formation of my home country and continue my studies of business in the country with the second-largest and fastest-growing economy through the Global China Program at ECNU.

My goal is to be open, learn a lot and as I tell my sisters, accomplish amazing things that are possible for anyone with hope and a smile!
