We are now in the “wet season” in Belize, which means the weather recently has been stormy at night with heavy rain/lighting/thunderstorms. Afterwards, it goes back to being sunny, hot and humid during the day.
On occasion, I will see a toucan flying about. But this week, I got to see not one, but two! On top of that, every day I saw stray cats and dogs running around town. It is also bug season in Belize currently, so there are many mosquitos flying around these days. The dragon flies eat the mosquitoes, so you will see dozens buzzing in the sky around sunset when the mosquitos come out.
I recently discovered there is a soursop tree right by my house, so now I can have a snack on my way to work. Soursop is a local fruit tree that grows here. People will eat it straight off the tree or make it into a juice. Some even enjoy it as an ice cream flavor!
