The weather in Croatia was beautiful! Most days were around 72°F. We are in the fall season, so it was mostly cloudy. On our boat tour, it rained for about 15 minutes, but then the skies cleared up and let the sun through. At night it got breezy and chilly, so you definitely need a jacket!
Croatia’s beaches are part of the Adriatic Sea, home to over 440 kinds of fish. Mammals such as dolphins and monk seals are also native to Croatia. On my boat tour, I rented goggles and saw fish of all sizes, sea urchins and even a starfish. It was like looking into a whole new world under the water.
Croatia has forests, mountains and many plants and animals. Some are very similar to those in Hawthorne, such as brown bears, deer, golden eagles and cicadas. Croatia has plants and animals, such as the Biokovo bellflower, that are endemic. Endemic means you can only find them in one place in the whole world. How cool is that?
