Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

Croatia is about 241 miles from Verona. I took a train to Milan, then a short flight to Zadar, and finally a three hour bus ride to Split. The travel was overnight, which is exhausting, but worth it!

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

Traveling from Hawthorne to Verona was over 6,000 miles. Croatia was the first trip I've taken within Europe adding 241 miles to my travels. Because it is so easy to travel here, I hope to go to other countries, too, such as Portugal, Spain and Ireland. My bucket list includes a trip to Finland to see the aurora borealis.

How did I get around this week?:

Similar to the ways you can get around Italy, you can take buses, taxis and even bikes. The bus from Zadar to Split was crowded and hot with no air conditioning! I was sweating, drank all my water, and felt uncomfortable. I asked a friend for some water and her portable fan, and even though it didn’t fix everything, it made me feel better. Sometimes a little help makes a big difference.

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The Blue Lagoon beach in Croatia was one of my favorite places. The water was bright blue and the perfect temperature for a swim!
