My Food Adventure in Korea

Introduction:

Food is a really big part of life in South Korea. Since moving here, I have had the chance to try many dishes that I had never eaten before. Some were sweet, some were spicy and some were very different from what I was used to. Every new meal has been a chance to learn something about Korean food and culture. Come along as I share some of the foods I have tried!

What food did I try?:

I have tried many different things since moving to South Korea! Some of my favorites include Korean corn dogs, Korean barbecue and cold noodles. I have also tried rice cakes (tteokbokki), gimbap (Korean rice rolls) and different kinds of seafood, like clams and oysters.

I have also learned about something called banchan. Banchan are small side dishes served with Korean meals. They can include different kinds of kimchi, seasoned vegetables and pickled foods. There are often several small dishes on the table, and everyone can share them!

I also enjoy trying sweet treats! I have tried salt bread, which is a soft bread with butter and a little salt. Another dessert I tried was a pink raspberry Mont Blanc, which was covered in thin, curly lines of sweet cream. I have also tried a pastry filled with pink cream.

I have even found foods from other countries here. I have eaten pho, pizza and Chipotle in South Korea!
