Tro-Tro! Getting Around Ghana by Bus

Long time no see! for Easter Break, I traveled around Ghana. During my journeys, I saw many cities along the coast, including Accra and Cape Coast, but before I post pictures of my adventures, I want to talk about the funnest part of my adventure,which was riding a tro-tro! Read on to see what a tro-tro is, how Ghanaians use these vehicles, and how to ride one safely.

How do people get around?:

A few weeks ago, I showed you how Northern Ghanaians use yellow-yellows to get around town. Remember: a yellow-yellow is a three-wheeled car, and it comes in many colors, including blue, red and green. ("Yellow-yellow" does not always mean the car is yellow!) In Tamale, it is easy to get around because there are hundreds of yellow-yellow drivers.

tro-tro is very similar to a yellow-yellow. A tro-tro is a long van that can hold up to 20 passengers. The vans come in many colors. Also, you see tro-tros more often in southern Ghana. But even though Ghanaians use both yellow-yellows and tro-tros to travel, there are two differences:
