I am actually writing this as I fly back to Hungary from a visit to my home in the U.S. The flight from Tennesse to Hungary is around 7.5 hours, and the flight from Hungary to Tennesse took about 9 hours. Plus, there were two smaller connecting flights both ways. So I have travelled a lot recently!
Well, I started in Tennessee, and have travel to Budapest, Hungary. That is about 5,081 miles. I've now done that flight three times. Not to mention going to Paris, France the week before and then the Hungarian town of Mohács for the Busójárás festival the week before that. And last year I also visited Vienna, Austria, and multiple towns in Hungary including Pécs, Veszprém, Debrecen, Tihany and Szeged.
Day to day, I use the bus and the metro system in Budapest. It is easy to navigate with the help of Google Maps and the three-month bus/metro pass that I use. The buses and the metro in the city are regular and run throughout the day and night. I feel pretty safe on them, even when they are overcrowded. The biggest issue I have is sometimes I will get on the wrong bus going the wrong direction. When that happens I have to get off, cross the street, and wait for the correct bus.
