Before I officially say goodbye, I have a few updates for you. First off, I have been visiting all the museums I haven’t had the chance to see yet, including the Fine Arts Gallery, the Pinball Museum, the Hospital in the Rock, the Natural History Museum and going to the Zoo. Secondly, I had a very fun get-together with my fellow Fulbrighters, in which we celebrated both Easter and Passover since we are a mix of religious backgrounds. We did a version of traditional Seder, had a PowerPoint on the possible scientific causes of the story of the Plagues of Egypt, and did a hunt for a golden Easter egg!
Also, did you see in the news that this past Sunday was the Hungarian Election Day? It was a huge deal since the current political party has been in power for 16 years. For a long time, many people have been worried that nothing would change. However, on Election Day, the opposition party won in a landslide victory. People were celebrating in the streets, cheering, and congratulating one another. Earlier in the day, I went to a Techno event (dance party!) in celebration of Election Day. It was encouraging to see people out and having a good time even before the results were announced. This to me goes to show that change can happen no matter how long things have stayed the same.
