While the harsh conditions in the Swiss mountains pose challenges for those living there, the mountains are the source of Switzerland's pristine drinking water. The Swiss have been innovative in encouraging people to recycle and reduce pollution so as not to ruin this precious natural resource.
Switzerland's main natural resource is water power which comes from the many glaciers that are found in the country. Glaciers are large and slow-moving blocks of ice usually created through the snow that gets mushed together and can be mainly found in mountains.
