Life of Swiss Students: My Host Brother Luca

On the first floor of the apartment, you have my room, the kitchen, bathroom and living room. Then you go up the flight of stairs and you can find another bathroom and two more rooms.

What chores do you have at home?:

Luca helps out at home whenever he can like keeping his room clean, helping with laundry, setting up the table, helping with the dishes and walking our dog Angel.

What jobs do your parents have?:

Luca's mom, Maria, is the head registered nurse at a local hospital in a nearby town. Luca's father, Dan, is a security guard at a local immigration center. His older brother George is a banker at one of the nearby local banks.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

Luca usually leaves the apartment around 8:00 am to catch the train to head to school. He comes home for lunch around 11:45 am, stays for about an hour and then has to head back to school. Finally, he comes back home by 3:30 pm.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

It is very normal to see school children traveling alone or with friends to school. Using the train is one of the most commons forms of transportation. Luca uses the train to get to and from school. Another common form of transportation is by car, if the students' parents drive them to school. Maria and Dan, Luca's parents, both have to work throughout the day, so Luca has to mainly rely on train or carpooling with friends.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

Luca eats lunch at home with Dan, his father and with me, I if I am home on lunch break at the time.
