Fahri's life

Introduction:

This last week, I lived with Fahri and his 80-year-old grandmother in Tumbuh Jaya. She helps deliver babies in the village. Fahri is an awesome kid. I hope you think so, too, after reading this interview with him!

What is your full name?:

My name is Alif Fahri.

Where do you live? What is your house like?:

I live with my grandmother in Tumbuh Jaya, Kolono Timur subdistrict of Southeast Sulawesi. We live in a brick house with five bedrooms, two living rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. We have a television. I really like watching the Transformers cartoon.

My aunt opened a restuarant next to our house. She sells fried chicken and meatballs there. I like eating chicken.

What is your family like?:

I have a big family. My grandmother has eight kids. My father and mother have seven. They live in the city two hours away. My father is coming to visit next month. My brother Fahmi and I live in Tumbuh Jaya. He stays with my aunt in another house. At night we watch Transformers together, along with my other cousins.

How do you get around?:

I walk to school. It's two bridges away and behind the big soccer field [600 meters away] Sometimes when I go to my grandmother's cashew orchard, my uncle takes us by motorbike. I've never been on a train or a plane. I'd really like to see a train.
