Farewell Journal

In Pai, we got to see waterfalls, visit a hot spring and go on a hike. We had been to Pai before in the rainy season, so it was interesting to see it again in the dry season! Look at the photos of Pai Canyon--do you notice a difference between these two shots?

After Pai, Emily and I took a bus to a town in Northern Thailand called Mae Hong Song. In Mae Hong Song we went on more hikes, visited temples and went camping. Mae Hong Song is surrounded by mountains that I thought were so beautiful! I was very glad to have this experience. Mae Hong Song is a more rural area with fewer English speakers, and I don't think we could have easily managed being in this part of Thailand if we didn't speak Thai, which made us feel very accomplished! After our week-long adventure, we took another long bus back to Chiang Mai where we repacked our suitcases and went to the airport.

The flight home was very long! First, I flew from Chiang Mai in Thailand to Korea. Then, after nine hours in the Korean airport, I flew for thirteen hours to Los Angeles, California. Finally, I flew from Los Angeles to Portland, Oregon. My mom picked me up from the Portland airport. It was so good to see her! I was very tired from my travels, so when I got home, I slept a lot: I had what's called "jet lag" because Thailand was in a very different time zone. However, I eventually readjusted to life in the United States again. I have been home for over a year now, but I still think about Thailand almost every day.

Thank you for following along in my journey with me! It has been a pleasure to work with you all! I wish you all safe travels, wherever these may take you!
