It's Crunchy, It's Juicy, It's Pani Puri!

Introduction:

Indian food is remarkably flavorful. This is coming from somebody who spent half a year eating Thai food, and a lifetime eating home-cooked Mexican food. Indian food is without a doubt the tastiest array of food I've ever had in my life. Sometimes I admit it can be a bit overwhelming for me, but when that perfect balance is struck, it hits the spot just right! Feel free to check out the "Foodie's Paradise" album for photos of what I've been eating!

If you ever live in this city, you'll invariably encounter at least one street food vendor with a humongous bag of puff balls on his table. For just 20 rupees ($0.29), you can enjoy these puff balls in all their glory. Welcome to the wonderful world of Pani Puri!

What food did I try?:

This crispy little snacks sold throughout the city is called Pani Puri. It consists of a hollow fried shells filled with variations of seasoned broth, spices, chili, potatoes and more. Pani is the Hindi word for "water" while Puri refers to the crispy shell that holds all of the ingredients inside. My favorite Pani Puri vendor is right at the end of my block. He's the one I credit most with showing me how good this snack can really be.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

The first time I tried Pani Puri, I had no clue what it was or how to order it.
