Dutch and English are the most common languages, but I often hear French and German in Amsterdam.
The euro is used in the Netherlands, so when I came home from Poland and still had zloty left (Polish currency), I had to go exchange it. The exchange rate is how much one currency is worth compared to another. One euro is equal to about 4.3 zloty. One euro is about 1.14 U.S. dollars.
There is no free water in restaurants here in the Netherlands. You either pay for sparkling (carbonated) or still water. Both can cost anywhere between three and five euros per glass!
On Friday night, I went to a benefit dinner organized by Human Aid in Greece to raise money to help refugees in Greece this winter. The cooks had prepared traditional Syrian food, and all of it was vegetarian! The hummus and zucchini dips were my favorite. You just take the couscous or dip and put it on your bread or in your pita and you are good to go!
