English is the most dominant language in the United States. However, my husband's family is from Quebec City, Canada. All of his family in my generation and his parents generation can speak English, but three generations up - our grandparents generation - can only speak French. Ben took French classes in school and tried to speak French in the home but he still has to try really hard to understand his grandparents when they speak French. He is trying to get better but it is so hard to keep up a language when you are not using it every day.
The united states dollar is used here. Since I was near Canada I can say that the dollar is stronger than the Canada currency. The ratio is 1 Canadan Dollar to .75 USD.
A bottle of water costs around $1-2 USD in NYC. In Canda it would cost 1.47 C$.
The best meal that I had this week was a Thanksgiving dinner. I'll talk more about this later.
This week was the official start of listening to Christmas Music. I really enjoy both the Pentatonix Band (which is a group of 5 singers who sing without any instrument accompanyment). And I like listening to a station on Spotify called "A Classic Christmas".
