Moepi’s Life in Lesotho

Introduction:

Moepi is a Grade Seven student who lives in rural Lesotho. He is 15 years old. In this article, we will learn about his life here in Lesotho. 

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

I eat porridge for breakfast. I eat papa, eggs and cabbage for lunch. For dinner, I eat rice, meat and tomatoes. 

What is your house like?:

I live in a big house made of tin. The floor is cement. I have hens and five cows that live near my house in their pen. 

What chores do you have at home?:

At home, I wash the dishes. I also sweep the house. 

What jobs do your parents have?:

My mother works at a bar in town. My father drives a car for work. 

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 7:45 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. 

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I walk to school by myself. I live close to school. It is a 20 minute walk. 

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I eat lunch at school. I eat lunch on the field with my friends. My favorite food is papa and meat. I like "russians", which is what we call sausages here.
