It is less than 4 times the size of Seattle! So I got to spend some time near the beach while I was there. The water was so blue! Coming from the Pacific Northwest, I am used to ocean water being cold and dark. Seeing the crystal clear turquoise waters around Singapore was mesmerizing!
I saw the biggest and shortest rain storm of my life one afternoon in Singapore! I spent the early afternoon inside the aquarium and when I came outside, I saw more rain than I have ever seen. I couldn't believe it because when I had gone inside, the sky was all blue skies and gentle clouds. I didn't see any signs of an incoming storm! I guess that was an important lesson about being in Singapore: the weather can change very quickly! I was surprised to see so many people walking around the rain without umbrellas. In Taiwan, even with the smallest amount of rain everyone will have their umbrellas out or will wait under cover for it to stop raining. Singapore was very different; hardly anyone had an umbrella!
