Farewell to Singapore

However, gathering up the courage to do this did not happen overnight: it was a long process that took time to grow.

I remember feeling a mixture of nervousness, excitement and freedom when I first landed in Singapore. I had never traveled to another country by myself before, and I felt proud of myself for being able to work hard and place myself in a position where I could travel in this way. I also felt gratitude toward my family, specifically my parents, for always supporting me and helping me become the best version of myself.

Even though I was nervous about living in Singapore by myself, I was excited about all of the opportunities to step out of my comfort zone. Whether it was meeting new people, trying new foods, or exploring new places, I learned to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. As you saw from following my journey here, having this kind of mindset led to many incredible adventures and magnificent moments in Singapore and nearby countries.

At the same time, life is unpredictable. So, I also believe it is best to make the most of your opportunities since you never know what might get thrown at you in life. I knew my time in Singapore would not last forever, since I was only there as part of a study abroad opportunity. Unfortunately, that time was cut even shorter because of the pandemic which we are currently facing. Thankfully, I created memorable experiences that will last me a lifetime, however.

It is hard to believe that nine weeks have passed since I wrote my first journal entry for you. It is even harder to believe it has been nearly a year since I was in Singapore! It has been a wonderful experience reflecting upon and sharing my time abroad with you all.
