On Shaky Ground: How to Live with the Risk of Natural Disasters

This usually means that buildings aren't built to the soaring heights here like they are in New York City, and they’re designed to shudder and move with the earth when it starts shaking. New Yorkers don't have to worry about earthquakes, but I'm sure you have practiced ways to move safely in other disasters like storms or fires. What do you do in those situations?

It's odd, but I've now come to love the feeling of a little temblor, but I'm not sure why. Maybe it reminds me of the fragility of life, which isn't a bad thing. With every temblor, I'm reminded of how fragile everything can be. This helps me be honest with myself about how I want to live, enjoying every bit of life while being prepared for the unexpected.
