Japan has so much good food to offer, and I’m very lucky to be here to try it all!
As a foodie, I’m always happy when I get to try new food and Japanese food is usually such an enjoyable harmony of flavors.
When eating ramen, you can taste the rich and creamy broth in every bite you eat. But when you eat takoyaki, make sure it’s cooled down enough before you eat it. I once made the mistake of putting a takoyaki ball in my mouth while it was still too hot, and my mouth got burned! This was a rookie mistake and I should have known better, but the takoyaki was still amazing.
All jokes aside, Japanese food always puts me in a good mood. Additionally, a lot of it is quite healthy and fresh, which makes me feel full but not sick or sluggish after eating.
I’ll explain a little about how ramen, takoyaki and okonomiyaki are prepared.
Ramen is made by first preparing a rich, flavorful broth, which has a base of soy sauce, miso, salt or pork bones. The noodles are boiled separately and then placed into the bowl before the hot broth is poured over them. After that, depending on the type of ramen, toppings like sliced pork belly, green onions, seaweed, bamboo shoots and eggs are added.
Takoyaki is made by pouring a light batter into a special pan with small, round molds. Pieces of octopus are placed inside, along with ingredients like green onion, pickled ginger and crispy tempura bits. As they cook, each ball is turned until they all become round and golden.
