Seeing Uluru and Kata Tjuta in 24 Hours

It only rains about 10 inches per year, which is 1/5 of the amount of rain that New York City gets per year. It is very hard to even visit here, but tourism companies have made it easier by building hotels, and providing drinking water sources and bus routes.

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

The Yankunytjatjara and Pitjantjatjara peoples are native to this part of Australia. There aren't that many of them left. This desert hasn't changed that much since they started living here, but tourism is having an impact on their lifstyles. Many of the native peoples work in tourism now, and help lead tours of Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
