I interviewed a student at my telesecundaria. This is a special kind of middle school in Guatemala that is usually prevalent in aldeas (villages). These villages tend to focus heavily on agriculture, and telesecundarias provide flexibility so that the students can participate in harvest seasons and other work activities. However, not all schools in Guatemala are like this and only provide one style of youth life in Guatemala. Here is what this student had to say!
For a lot of my meals, I eat some combination of rice, beans, and tortillas. Sometimes I'll eat them in the form of soups or accompanied with eggs, chicken, or some other protein.
My house is built of ladrillos (bricks) or cement blocks. I live with my parents, my siblings, and mi abuela (my grandmother).
