Dear class,

Well, I hope you’ve enjoyed an exciting journey reading about my time here in El Salvador. I hope you’ve been able to learn about the vibrant culture that’s here in El Salvador, outside of what you have heard in the news. There are so many beautiful things that come from this country!

I want to leave you with a big thank you for taking the time to read my articles. Not many people know about El Salvador because of its size and location, but now you know a little more about the pulgarcito (‘little thumb’) that we call El Salvador.

When I first came to this country, I barely had any idea of the general geography of Central America. My first visit to El Salvador helped show me how important human rights and social justice are to us all. What have you learned about human rights (or, more generally, "fairness") from my writing? After living here for a longer period of time, I have come to realize how I can combine the rights, the arts, music and research into my life.

Is there anything that you see as not just, or fair, in your life? How can you work to make things more fair?

That brings me to my next point. The goal of this program is to show you all a part of the world that is new and exciting, but more to teach you about how other people live.
