Transportation

Introduction:

After being in Finland for about three weeks now, I have used the different forms of transportation available to me. There are not many was to get around, but they are reliable and have not let me down yet.

How do people get around?:

Although there are a lot of cars in Oulu, there are even more bikes and buses. The buses are very easy to use and come about every 20 minutes. It's cheaper to use buses if you get the bus pass. There are also many bike paths that are just for cyclists and pedestrians to use.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

Using the bus is very easy, and I feel secure on them. You can use Google Maps and it will show you the bus stops you can use. Biking has also been easy, but some days the ground is very icy and it is very easy to fall. One day, I fell five times in 40 minutes!

Is this way of getting around connected to the culture and environment, How?:

Finland is all about sustainability. Using public transportation and bikes to reduce their carbon footprint is very connected to the Finnish culture. These modes of transportation also preserve the area's beautiful landscape, which is important to the Finns.
