Berlin in December transforms into a festive wonderland filled with sparkling lights, music, and the comforting scents of roasted almonds and mulled wine. One of the most beloved traditions during this season is the Christmas market (in German: Weihnachtsmarkt), a deeply rooted cultural practice that brings together locals and visitors to celebrate the holiday season.
I learned about the tradition of Christmas markets in Berlin, where people gather in open-air squares to enjoy festive decorations, seasonal food and drinks, handmade crafts, and entertainment. These markets usually open in late November and run through December, each offering a unique atmosphere depending on the neighborhood or historical setting. There are dozens all across the city.
