Dear George Jackson Academy Students,
What an incredible adventure we’ve shared! Over the past few months, we’ve explored life in Germany together—from the bustling streets of Berlin to the quiet corners of my research lab. Along the way, you asked thoughtful questions, made insightful observations, and brought so much energy to every session.
Together, we discovered what it’s like to live and work in a city full of history, science, and culture. You learned about German traditions, heard the sound of a new language, and saw what daily life looks like halfway across the world. Whether we were talking about Berlin’s famous landmarks or walking through my research on antibodies and children’s health, you stayed curious and open-minded every step of the way.
Our last meeting was one of my favorites. I loved hearing your thoughts about friendships—what makes them strong, how they change in high school, and how to stay connected even when life gets busy. You had such creative ideas and honest reflections. And, of course, the Berlin quiz was so much fun! You really impressed me with what you remembered: from the fact that Berlin has more bridges than Venice to naming Tiergarten as the city’s biggest park, and knowing you can swim in the Spree River!
