I did not go very far this week! The farthest place I traveled to was Tamsui which is only eight miles from Taipei. That's the same distance from RSA to Costco! Taipei is not very big, so things are close together. If I take the train from the top of Taiwan to the bottom, it would only take four hours!
The farthest place I have traveled to so far is Chiayi which was 153 miles from Taipei. It took two hours and 40 minutes on the High Speed Rail, which is a really fast train.
I mostly took the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit), which is Taipei's subway system. I also walked, rode the bus, took a train and rode a bike! There are lots of ways to get around Taiwan.
The most interesting place I visited this week was Tamsui, an old port town in northern Taiwan. The Tamsui river runs all the way from the ocean to Taipei. Ships used to travel in and out all the time! There is an old fort in Taisui that the Spanish built in 1628 called Fort San Domingo. We had a great time exploring the town.
