We're nearing the end of the rainy season here in Totonicapán. The mornings are usually cool and chilly, with clouds or fog. From 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., it sometimes will warm up. If we're lucky, we might get a few hours of sunshine (which is good, because my clothes are hanging up!). However, without fail, there are heavy rains in the afternoon around 3:00 p.m. until the evening. At night, it can get into the low 40s, so we bundle up! The majority of Guatemalan houses are open air, with no central heating or cooling.
This week, we were vaccinating dogs and cats at my work. We saw no less than 200 dogs and cats just this week! We also saw some more interesting pets, like parrots, bunnies and even squirrels. Many families also have farm animals, like pigs, goats, sheep, cows and horses.
My host family has just adopted a puppy they've named Dan. He is about six weeks old and so cute and cuddly!
