Middle School Students in Ghana

Introduction:

I traveled to Christian Village with my friend who is a math tutor at the school to visit the students. They range in age, but most are between sixth to eighth grade. They were so excited to meet me and help answer the questions.

What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?:

Breakfast: tea with bread or oats with cookies

Lunch: rice with egg stew, yam, and snacks

Dinner: salad with bread or pancake with sauce

What is your house like?:

My house is blue and black. It has four bedrooms, a bathroom with a toilet, and a kitchen with a corridor. There are two people in each bedroom.

What chores do you have at home?:

Sweeping and fetching water.

What jobs do your parents have?:

My mother is a beautician and my father is a house constructor.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

School starts at 6:00 AM and we go home at 4:00 PM.

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I go by bus by myself.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I eat lunch at school or home. My favorite food is rice and stew.
