A Day in the Life of a Czech Teenager!

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

I get to school by bus, but it's not like the school buses in the U.S.A. We go to school via the public bus that people use to go to work, school or just to travel to other towns. Most kids use the bus by themselves, even in primary school.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

I eat lunch in the school canteen (cafeteria), or I go out to a shop in town to buy food. My favorite food is svičkova (beef and dumplings with cranberry sauce).

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

We speak mainly Czech in school, but we also learn English and German. "Hello" in Czech is "Dobry den."

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Popular names for girls are Eliška, Tereza, Adéla, Natálie and Kateřina. Popular names for boys are Jan, Jakub, Tomáš, Dominik and Petr.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

We study English, German, Czech, math, history, criminology, law, psychology and more. I really enjoy law and criminology because I want to be a police officer.

What is your homework like?:

We do not get much homework. We mainly just have to study for tests.

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

After school I spend time with my friends. Popular sports are football (soccer) and floorball.
