Consistent, reliable and affordable public transportation is something that can bring so much value, not just to a community but to the lives of everyone in that community. I remember how excited everyone was in Sacramento when, after yearssss of construction, we had a metro line. I remember always taking it with my friends to go to DOCO, but that was mainly the only place it could take me. I remember wanting it to take us to Delta Shores, the mall...just more than what it was constrained to!
That dream of mine came true when I came to Amsterdam. It is not common, here, to own multiple cars within a family or even to own a car at all! The three biggest modes of transportation are the strong public transit system that has a metro, tram and bus. Many many...many people ride their bicycles and, of course, walk!

The metro is fantastic for zipping across town, while the trams and buses are perfect for those more local connections. And get this – there's even a free 24/7 public ferry to take you over the water to the Northern Amsterdam area!
