One piece of the tradition that is connected to the environment is the Christmas meal. The traditional dinner is fried carp and potato salad. This fish is common in Bohemia, the western region of the Czech Republic, and it is affordable. The scales of the carp are also said to be good luck and bring wealth, so people keep a scale in their wallets!
