This week, I traveled pretty far! From Cape Town to the sand dunes is about 50 kilometers, which is about 31 miles. Math moment: When I drove to the sand dunes, I got hungry and stopped for a snack around the halfway point. When I finished my snack, how many kilometers would I still have left to go?
Math Moment: Why don’t you tell me! Traveling from Michigan to Cape Town was about 8,275 miles (or 13,317 kilometers). Then, when I traveled from Cape Town to Johannesburg to visit Kruger National Park, I went another 874 miles (or 1,407 kilometers). And of course, I traveled back from Johannesburg to Cape Town another 874 miles (or 1,407 kilometers). Altogether, how far have I traveled on this journey?
This week I used Uber, the U.C.T. school bus (called the Jammie!) and my own two feet to get around. Additionally, there are a couple of different public transportation options that are affordable for people to get to where they need to go.
