The hike took about three hours, and it’s about 5.5 kilometers (3.5 miles) long. We started the hike around sunset, so the view from the top was absolutely gorgeous as the sun began to set! It was also a lot of fun because we got to climb ladders and use a few rock-climbing skills to reach the very, very top. Math moment: If the whole hike is 5.5 (let's round up to 6 for this example!) kilometers and it took us 3 hours, how far did we walk each hour?
I’ve been trying to switch from using Uber all the time to taking more public transportation, such as the train or the Jammie shuttle. This helps to reduce my carbon footprint. A carbon footprint is the amount of pollution released into the air when we use energy. So, driving cars, flying airplanes, and keeping the lights on, are all different ways that we use energy daily. When I take the train or the shuttle instead of a car, I share the ride a lot of people. That means fewer cars are on the road and less pollution in the air, less gas being used, and this helps to keep our planet healthy! What are ways that you guys are helping to reduce your carpon footprint? It doesn't have to be through travel, it could also be recycling plastic or glass bottles, or turning off the lights when you leave a room to conserve energy!
