Hallo (Hello in Afrikaans)! My name is Chi Chi (rhymes with “peachy!”). I am Nigerian-American, which means my family came to the United States from Nigeria when I was young. I grew up in Michigan (the mitten on the map!), in a small town not too far from Detroit.
Now, I’m in my third year of college, where I study statistics (a kind of math) and sociology (learning about groups of people). Here in Cape Town, I’m studying at the University of Cape Town (UCT), a famous school that works on important issues like fairness, protecting the environment, and social change. Outside of class, I spend time learning about Cape Town’s history, meeting people from many cultures, and enjoying the amazing mountains, plants, and animals. So, join me as I navigate Cape Town and embrace these new experiences with curiosity, courage, and lots of snacks.
