There are three official languages in Switzerland: German, French and Italian. Different parts of Switzerland speak different languages. In Zurich, the most commonly spoken language is German, but many people also speak English.
The sign language here in Zürich is SDGS, or Swiss-German Sign Language. It is very different from ASL! In other parts of Switzerland, they use LSF (French Sign Language) and LIS (Italian Sign Language.
Switzerland uses Swiss francs. One Swiss franc is equal to about 1.25 U.S. dollars.
A bottle of water costs about 2 francs, or $2.50 USD.
I didn't eat this myself, but one thing that made me laugh this week was a vending machine I saw full of cheese! You can tell that Swiss people really do love their cheese. Have you ever seen a vending machine full of cheese in the U.S.? I sure haven't!
I also stumbled across a group of people playing the alphorn! The alphorn is a traditional instrument here. It is made out of wood, and is taller than a person!
