Kao's Interview

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

For Kao, school starts at 10:30 a.m., and it ends at 5:00 p.m. 

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

Kao walks to school with her older brother.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

She mostly eats lunch at school. I think Kao said her favorite food is nikujyaku, or meatloaf.

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

Kao primarily speaks Japanese at school. Her school is also teaching her English, so she speaks a little English. "Hello" in Japanese is "konnichiwa". 

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

I think I translated this question wrong. Kao's friend's name is Akari. According to a little bit of research, Haruto, Minato, Minato and So are popular boy names, and Mei, Hina, Yua and Yuna are popular girls names. (Nippon.com "Haruto and Honaka: Japan's top 2020 Baby Names.")

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

Kao studies language and math. Her school does have Physical Education, which is Kao's favorite.

What is your homework like?:

Kao's homework is mostly online. I imagine that it's on platforms such as Google Classroom, where the teacher creates and posts assignments for the students to complete.

What do you like to do after school? Do you have a favorite sport or game?:

Kao likes to play house with her friends after school. Her favorite sport is basketball.
