Our story begins on Saturday, September 20th. My grandmother likes to go to flea markets, and there happened to be one in Yamato. Yamato is just a station over from where my grandparents live, so it was no problem traveling there. When we arrived, we were greeted by miles of tents! The Yamato flea market was set up on either side of Yamato station. You could pick either direction, left or right, out of Yamato station, and you'd be in the flea market. We started out going right, and were immediately bombarded with cloth stalls. People were selling fabric, usually with designs on them. They were intended for kimonos, but the offcuts can be made into other things by a seamstress, such as purses, bags and other accessories. My grandmother likes to sew, so she's always interested in checking out the fabrics.
People were selling things other than fabric, though. Some sold finished items of clothing. I picked up a cute blouse with blue and yellow flowers on it. It went really well with the green skirt I was wearing, so I got it. I was so excited that I was able to find something that matched my outfit. I could put it on right then and there! The rest of the time we spent at the flea market, I was enamored ("in love") with my new blouse.
Sunday was kind of a nothing day.
