When you go to a different state in the U.S., you can use the same money, it is the same way in Australia. I live in New South Wales (a state) and traveled to Queenland (another state), so the Australian Dollar is still used. It is like traveling from New York to Flordia, for example.
All of the prices stay about the same throughout Australia. However, when I was in a more remote part of Australia things were more expensive. For example, a bottle of water is usually $5 AUD while in the areas very far from the city a bottle of water is $8 AUD. This is because it is hard to bring supplies far out of the city.
The best meal I had this week was a breakfast with my friends. We were camping in the Rainforest and had breakfast together. It was a very simple breakfast of fruit and muesli. Muesli is a popular breakfast food in Australia, you eat it like cereal with milk, but it is oats, so it is kind of similar to cold oatmeal.
